Live What You Were Born To Do

Always there is that nagging repetitive voice deep inside that whispers and at times shouts that you are destined for something greater.

To live life at full throttle is to become Obsessed with delivering the best of you to the world. These are the principles people immersed in the "Obsession of becoming" live by:

1. ASK WHAT IS REALLY IMPORTANT & DO IT
   
   Obsessed people ask the right questions. What am I great at? What is it that brings me immense joy? What is it that I do so well that it feels more like play than work? What further skills do I need to acquire to become excellent? Obsessed people seek out and apply advise from experts. A lady I know who wanted to start her own business spent much time and energy hobnobbing with experts in her field. The benefits to her are tremendous in keeping her from making mistakes. Ask what is really important to you and do it.
    
2. START IS WHERE YOU JUMP IN
   
   A few years ago while sitting in a college classroom, I was overwhelmed with the immensity of the assignment. In frustration I declared, "I don't know where to start". My professor, I don't recall his name stated, "Start is where you jump in" I have been "jumping in" ever since. Obsessed people don't wait for things to happen. They simply leap in and begin. When you begin a process the way becomes clear as you move forward in doing. You don't have to acquire the entire blueprint just begin right where you are- jump in.
    
3. YOU - THE GIFT THAT SUCCEEDS WHEN GIVEN AWAY
   
   I thought of the words of Jesus in the Bible after he performed many miracles, "See that you tell no one who healed you". Give YOU away. Every year it is the customary practice of families I know to go through the house and give things away, new things, old things and yes, things highly valued. Why highly valued? The value you give away has a way of turning up again. Think highly of others and pursue opportunities to serve. The secret to realizing your Obsessed life is to extend you in the heart of others by giving You away.
    
4. FOCUS
   
   What you focus on expands. What you think about you move toward. I saw a moving story a few months ago about a young boy that was destined to become the best. He overcame much difficulty on the Path to recognizing his Obsession. His opponent in frustration asked him, "What has happened to make you try so hard?" His response, "I was born to do this". One of the secrets to obtaining your obsession is to Focus without wavering - You were born to do this.
    
5. YOUR LEGACY
   
   You are standing on the shoulders of giants. You have the ability to harness the richness of your ancestry. You owe a debt to deliver to the Universe your best hidden treasures. Unfurl your wings, disrobe your glory and live your obsession. When you arrive at a fork in the road, pull out your history. Spend time reviewing the victories and the triumphs. You will remember that you are a giant destined to leave a legacy.
    
6. THE POWER OF THE SPOKEN WORD
   
   In looking at the creative acts of God. Things were spoken into existence. "God said, "Let there be light, and there was light..." The Creator God spoke things into being from a state of nothingness. We too are creative beings with the ability and capacity to also speak things into existence. Speak your obsession into existence. The germ of an idea gains momentum when we speak it on a piece of paper or articulate it consciously to others. The bounty of the universe wraps itself around the idea and and births it. All are benefactors of the power of the spoken word. Do what you love to do. Do what you are obsessed with and success will come.
    
7. LIVING THE LIFE YOU ARE OBSESSED WITH
   
   Take Yourself seriously. Make yourself accountable by periodically checking up on your progress. Write it down in a notebook or journal. And always end by writing an encouraging positive note to yourself.
   
   Seek opportunities to assist others and give yourself away. We are all community. We share ideas and opinions and most importantly we expand our capacity to become bigger and better human beings.
   
   Acquaint yourself with your history Consider the possibilities of looking into your family roots. Review the history of your great country. Share your discovery with others.
    
8. SPEAK YOUR WORD
   
   There is much power in the words we say. Speak your obsession into existence by sharing it with trusted friends, family members etc. You will find your words taking on body and form. Pursue relentlessly your obsession every day and watch the Universe give it wings.
