Bed Bug Detection In the 21st Century

by Mark Etinger

Tiny bugs can often be the scariest kind of problem for a home, a neighborhood, a city or a society overall. Not unlike an air-born disease small critters can move from person to person quickly with very little indication that a problem is spreading. By the time the first person realizes they have say a bed bug infestation they have already exposed dozens of other people to that same infestation and each of those people have exposed dozens themselves. It is as if finding bed bugs is not a sign of one but an assurance of hundreds of other cases of infestations. This is just one reason that acting quickly is so vitally important in cases of bed bugs and other small pests. These things are never self contained and can always get out of hand very quickly.

Bed bug detection has not always been treated so seriously. In some eras the bugs were so common as to have their presence be assumed in most homes in a given area. New York in particular had rather uncontrollable problems with the critters who of course as a result became integral to the old saying "Sleep tight, don't let the bed bugs bite." For so many people during this time the bed bugs biting was a forgone conclusion.

Somehow the city and seemingly the country at large had managed to get the bed bug infestations that plagued the areas under control and they remained that way until the last several years. In that time bed bug detection and bed bug eradication have become a little more advanced and the plague of these little nuisances has become increasingly easy to handle. There is the innovative use of bed bug sniffing dogs and bed bug suffocating mattress covers. These days you do not have to get rid of everything you own simply based on finding a bed bug infestation. Instead there are readily available treatments and exterminators with the right chemicals and tools to ensure you get rid of the bugs once and for all.

The timing of the resurgence of bed bugs in this sense could not be better. With pest control notably better than it was several decades ago many people have managed their bed bug problems with little trouble to the day to day functioning of their lives. Knowing how rough people use to have it makes bed bug detection seem a lot less troublesome these days. Now you can feel comfortable and confident that the problem has been dealt with once and for all.
