What Is Organic Food And Why Is It Good For Us?
Organic food by definition is food which is grown without the help of any chemical fertilizer or pesticide. Contrary to common belief, organic food also needs additives in order to grow better – however, all these additives are organic and do not involve any type of chemical matters. Why is this good for us? Why is organic food so heavily talked about?Chemical fertilizers and pesticides are cancerous – reports have proved time and time again that there is a direct connection between the chemical used in fertilizers and cancer; continuous usage of chemical fertilizer penetrates the skin of the fruits and vegetables totally contaminating it; this is in turn consumed by humans who absorb the harmful chemicals which many times results in a number of diseases, among one of which is cancer. Organic food on the other hand is grown only with the help of natural growth enhancers such as cow-dung as manure and other similar props which makes the fruit/vegetable 100 percent safe for consumptionOrganic food is not genetically modified. Genetically modified plants may look better and greater today, but mutations done by the hand of man have long-lasting irreversible effects which again have been observed in many instances where man interferes with nature’s powers only to pay a heavy price in the end.The organic food, being without any chemical additions taste great; many times one can differentiate between the taste of an organic tomato and non-organic tomato by just one biteOrganic foods do not harm the environment, being totally degradable while non-organic foods releases their harmful chemical slowly and continuously over a long period of time. Sometimes the chemicals reach the water table through decomposition of the vegetable/fruit creating havoc among people and animals alike.Organic food is capable of producing much more vitamins that the non-organic ones don’t. Vitamins C, Calcium, Chromium, Iron, Magnesium, etc are abundantly present in organic food while in non-organic food the quantity is less and you also find chemicals imbibed into it.It promotes proper care of the crops and better crops; in spite of the popular myth, organic food can produce much more than chemically fertilized crops, at the same cost or even less.Organic foods produce less carbon dioxide; while the non-organic foods are based on additives which promote more carbon dioxide into the air.Organic foods provide better employment for the farmers promoting agriculture.Organic foods do not need to much water for irrigation; non-organic crops need tremendous amounts of water in order to make the fertilizer work; the hybrid grow and bear good fruits.Organic foods put people back in touch with the nature whereby people become more concerned and aware about their environment. Plus the symbiosis required to create what we need to nurture our planet earth for a long time. The list is endless. The above only a few of the great advantages that one has while choosing organic food over non-organic food. The best motivating factor is of course the fact the organic food is definitely healthier because it is exactly what God intended it to be – no additions, no embellishments, and no lies. Many countries have brought out their own lists of must-haves in order to be declared as organic food, which has taken the whole world by storm. However, the prices being what they are, people have not yet been very keen on organic foods. Most health conscious people have totally left meat and have taken up the joy of being totally vegetarian.
