Window coverings are used on virtually all windows in US homes. They provide privacy and energy savings. The most popular types of window coverings include horizontal shades, vertical blinds and shades.
Horizontal window coverings can go up and down and also tilt to any open position. The most common horizontal window coverings is the one inch mini blind. It is made of aluminum and comes in a variety of colors. The second most common is the two-inch horizontal window coverings. They are made of real wood or faux wood. Both are very economical.
Vertical blinds window coverings go from side to side instead of up and down. These are very popular for sliding glass doors. The most common vertical window coverings are standard vertical blinds. They have three and half-inch vanes that go down the window made of vinyl or fabric. They can tilt open for views or draw to the side. Vertical sliding panels and vertical cellular window coverings are becoming increasingly popular.
Regular shades window coverings are a solid piece of fabric that goes up and down. The most common are the honeycomb (cellular) shades, roller shades and roman shades. Each operates slightly different but they all are a solid piece of fabric.
