Best Man Speeches 101 - How to Create Perfect Best Man Speeches - Every Time

by Emmitt Streat

More often than not, when people are asked to speak in front of a crowd, their first reaction is to get nervous. When you are tasked with the role and responsibility of best man at your loved one's wedding, one of the many responsibilities you will have is to give a speech. Best man speeches are usually given during the reception.

The key to writing and delivering good best man speeches is to prepare them well in advance and practice them a couple of times to make sure that your speech is successful. It will also help you to become more at ease when you finally will need to deliver it during the big day. Best man speeches usually last from five to ten minutes only so as not to bore your audience or lose their attention. Another idea to keep the audience's attention is to crack a couple of jokes during your speech. Just do not forget to make sure that your joke is not offensive or embarrassing to anyone.

Within your speech, do not forget acknowledge and thank the guests for being part of the ceremony. Thank the parents of the bride and groom and tell them how grateful you are. If you feel incredibly nervous, and you want to shift the attention away from you, you can also use visual aids such as photos of the groom. This also adds humor to your speech. Finally, best man speeches are usually ended with a toast to the newlyweds.
