Making Your Front Door the Focal Point of Your Home

by Linda Binns

If you are a bit familiar with the concepts behind feng shui, then you probably know that one of the most important features of your home is your front door. The entrance to your home represents the point where all energy flows, and where you invite good opportunities and good people into your home. But what if the front door of your home isn't the focal point? There are several situations that can cause this - garages jutting out (a common design feature in modern American homes), trees or tall shrubs growing in front of the house, or a main entrance that does not face the front of the house. Regardless of the reason, if your front door isn't the focal point of your home, you will have difficulty attracting positive, prosperous energy into your living space. If the problem is a tree or a large plant blocking the view of the front door, you may be able to take care of this by removing the tree or plant (depending on just how large it is. You may also be able to improve this situation by pruning the tree or plant, so it doesn't directly block the view of your front door. If your front door isn't the focal point because of the architectural design of the home, however, you will have to get a little more creative. One of the things that you can do to help bring the focus to your home's entrance is to paint the door a warm, inviting color - red is a great choice for this. Stay away from neutral or dull colors, which can obscure your home's entrance. Another thing you can do to help the energy flow through your home's entrance is to place water features near your front door, such as fountains or small ponds. If this is not feasible, you can use moving objects such as wind chimes or flags to represent the flow of water. Sculptures with wavy, flowing shapes can also help create a flow of positive energy to brighten up your home's entrance. A third way to help make your front door the focal point of your home is by using landscaping elements. Brightly colored flowers, hanging baskets, and small flowering shrubs can all help to accent your home's entrance, to make it warm and inviting for your guests. As you can see, building up your home's entrance so it is the first thing people see when they approach your home doesn't have to be difficult. With a few accents and a little paint, you can make an entrance that invites both positive energy and positive people. FEEL FREE TO USE THIS ARTICLE!
