A colon cleansing fast may seem like a great way to lose weight. As a matter of fact it is a great way to lose weight initially, but like all fasts the weight will only stay off for as long as you are on the fast. As soon as you begin to eat again the weight will creep back on.

A much better way to lose weight while cleansing the colon is to take an herbal dietary supplement that is designed to cleanse the colon. These supplements typically use psyllium husk as one of the main ingredients and can be found online. The supplements are often packaged as a complete colon cleansing system and by following the system and taking the herbal supplement you will lose weight and keep it off.

The reason the dietary supplements work better than a simple fast is that they are made up of ingredients that are not typically broken down during the digestive process. These ingredients then push through the colon and scrape the debris from the colon walls as they pass. This is how the cleansing action works.

It will not be as dramatic as the first phase of weight loss, but it will be sustained for far longer and have better results over time.
