by Andrew Beene

Don’t you just hate moving houses? Having to deal with the hassles of moving and storage Los Angeles to New York, Vegas to California. Moving in a new neighborhood. Familiarizing yourself with a new town. Its like starting over, there’s a part of you that will always crave for the familiar, the routine. And when you move houses, you’ll have to start all over and get used to new things again. Goodbye to old friends and adjusting to meet new ones. What’s probably as stressful as moving houses is the process of relocating. You have to relocate everything! Your job, your furniture, and when you have a family, its twice as hard. So here are a few random tips to help you begin again, the less stressful way.

Budget. House movers or not, moving things demands you to bear financial burden. Moving equipment; truck rentals, shipping costs, gas expenses and more. Plan your move in advance. Create a budget and designate money for emergency circumstances. Check for insurance to make sure your property is covered while in you are traveling. If you’re hiring professional movers, don’t just take the first company with the offer. Get quotes, and previous client reviews, so you know which ones offer the best service at a price that wont hurt you.

If you plan on hiring a professional mover from a moving and storage company, book in advance. There are days when moving companies get booked up so fast. Booking the mover in advance will make sure you get all the help you need. Plan a schedule for your move. How many hours will it take to pack or do a particular task. And be realistic when it comes to your timeframe.

Map things out. If you’re moving to an unfamiliar territory, make sure to plan your directions carefully. It would be best to take a drive and see how things go. Familiarize yourself with the town. Its bad enough you have to drive a truck. It would be terrible if you get lost.

Make sure things fit. Measure your large furniture and appliances to ensure they fit the door of your new place.

Don’t bring everything. Having too much stuff may be a great stumbling block for you. There are things that you just have to let go. When it comes to moving, packing things you’ll more likely need is better than what you’ll want or miss. Try giving them away to charity or having a garage sale. If you plan on using storage companies, make sure all boxes are sealed and stored neatly.

Eat up! Don’t let the hassle of moving make you forget your basic needs. In fact, this is a chance to make things fun for you and your family. Bring sandwiches and have a picnic somewhere or eat out on a country restaurant.

Just sit back and enjoy the ride. Moving is also a pretty emotional journey. When you have kids, it can also be hard for them. Take time to enjoy the entire process. Think of it as a road trip. Take pictures or a video the move. Turn it into an adventure you’ll look back on as a fun and exciting experience.

Suffice it to say venturing out to the unknown a difficult process. But for whatever reason you decided to relocate, you cant deny that part of it is to try new things. So go out there and have a great time starting over.
