Top Retirement Holiday Destinations

Time for a long, well-earned rest…

by Sam Qam

When you get past a certain age and you feel like you don't want to go to work anymore then you should be able to stop working and still get paid for your years of hard work shouldn't you. That's why retirement is a great honour people should all have the opportunity to enjoy, and when they do, and the novelty of sitting around eating biscuits and drinking tea wears off, why not go on holiday?

Going on holiday when you retire should be a government funded right. While that may be credit crunch restricted pipe dream, here are some top destinations you may want to consider that are perfect for when you retire…

Florida

Known as the retirement home of America this state is perfect for the older generation. It is fantastically hot, offers a massive array of things to do from theme parks and safari style parks, lots of hot sandy beaches, near infinite food options, acres of lovely countryside to explore and plenty of shows and exhibitions for every taste.

Not only is there all that to do, if you want to retire there permanently, as many do, then you would have the opportunity to visit a ton of condos and retirement complexes fit for kings and queens. They will give you an American-style tour around so you can see what you might want to sign up for.

The Med

The Mediterranean is littered with fantastic places for people who have taken early retirement to go on holiday. The climate, the number of resorts that are perfect for retired people because of their excursion opportunities, locations and resort activities, and their relatively short distance from the UK, make it a great choice for anyone looking for a retirement vacation. Crete in particular is excellent as your retirement income will go a long way, it has the most stunning beaches and is large enough that without too much searching you can find a beach just for you.

Australia

Thanks to the distance Australia is from the UK, it is a place that not everyone has a chance to visit when they have work commitments. This means that when you retire you will have all the time in the world to go all the way around the world and enjoy the sunny southern hemisphere in all its glory. Australia is predictably hot and sunny most of the year and thanks to the fact it is in summer when we are in winter, you can enjoy summer in the UK before jetting off to 'Oz' to enjoy another summer.

Enjoy your retirement!
