Lose Fat Without Actually Dieting
We all know that in order to lose weight, one needs to consume fewer calories than one burns off. So you need to be doing exercise as well as keeping an eye on what you eat.
If you pay attention to what you are eating and make sure that you are getting a good balance of the food groups into your eating habits, then you don't need to worry so much about dieting. Diets are short term; your eating habits need to change if you want to lose weight in the long term.
Eat a bit less. While this might sound like a silly thought, if you cut your food portions down slightly, you will lose weight because the amount you cut down will mount up over the amount of meals you eat. Cutting back a little bit every meal isn't difficult to do and will help you to consume fewer calories.
Eat smaller meals more often. Eating every 3 or 4 hours keeps the body's blood sugar level stable and curbs the hunger that you'd feel between meals if you only ate 3 meals a day. It also keeps your metabolism up because you are feeding your body less more often instead of a lot of food to break down at once and then slowing it down.
Get enough sleep. Sleeping is your body's time off and will allow it to recharge for the next day. If you don't get enough sleep, not only will you feel tired, but it will also affect your metabolism.
Find an old item of clothing you used to fit into or buy one that you would like to be able to fit into and use it as motivation to do the exercise you need to do to lose that weight. A visual aid to your goal will do wonders for your motivation and you'll see it all the time and it will keep you motivated.
Chewing sugar free gum will help you if you feel a craving for sugary foods. You will have the action of chewing to satisfy your cravings, but you will also have the taste of the gum in your mouth. This taste, if strong enough, will help to make other food you try to eat not taste very nice and will stop you overeating.
Reward yourself when you've made progress with your weight loss efforts and you'll be more inclined to do more. You could go out and buy a new CD you've wanted to listen to, or a DVD you've been wanting to watch.
Something that you find pleasurable and that will encourage you to do more of your weight loss plan to gain more of the reward. The biggest reward will be the being able to be proud of your body and feeling good and knowing you look good too, with the body that you are working towards.
Hopefully this article gave you some ideas to help you with your weight loss plans, without necessarily having to go on a diet.
