Have Better Skin - Here's a few Tips!

by Grace Rivac

The skin is the biggest organ of your integumentary system. The skin has several layers of ectodermal tissue and guards the underlying muscles, bones, ligaments and internal organs.

The skin plays an important part within our body. Because it faces the environment every single day, the skin helps us a lot. The skin shields the body against pathogens and excessive water loss.

Being the organ that helps to protect the entire internal system, you must be able to protect your skin. Simple ways to protect it can benefit you and your whole entire body.

Protecting your skin from the sun

An easy way of taking care of your skin is to protect it from the sun. Too much direct exposure to the sun can cause wrinkles, freckles, age spots and rough and dry skin. Moreover, too much exposure may also bring about skin cancer. Your way to protect your skin is to:

• Avoid the sun between 10am - 4pm - these are the times of day when the sun’s ray reaches its most powerful. You best stay at home or at the office or if you can't help to head out, at the very least bring an umbrella on hand.

• Protect your skin by putting on protective clothing - cover your skin by wearing long-sleeved shirt, long pants or you can also don hats if you would like to. In this way you can cover your skin from direct sunlight that could harm your skin.

• Use lotions with SPF - the thinning ozone layer, the air pollution darkening our skies - our generation is quite unfortunate compared to our elders in terms of the environment. This has caused an even more intensified effect of the UV rays of the sun - and it isn’t safe for our skin as this heightens the risk of skin cancer. Use a sunscreen cream or lotion with spy 40 to help you block the sun’s rays.

Quit smoking

Smoking is the main risk factor of any disease. Smoking narrows the tiny blood vessels in the outermost layer of our skin, which in turn causes our blood flow to decrease. It also plays a role in early skin aging and wrinkles.

Your immediate decision will help you. Your change of lifestyle will not only protect your skin but your body also from any other diseases like lung cancer.

Treat your skin gently

Your day-to-day habits of cleansing will help your skin to look even more gorgeous, but here are amazing facts that you should be aware of.

• Limit your bath time - Hot baths and long baths can clear away oils from your skin. Oils on the skin also help hold off skin aging. Use warm water rather than hot water.

• Pick a gentle soap - choose mild cleansers to prevent removing too much oil from your skin. Always remember that natural oils which the body produces also help in taking good care of your skin.

• Moisturize your skin always - after having a shower, never forget to moisturize your skin. Choose a moisturizer that suits your skin. Do not pick extra strong creams or moisturizers. Be gentle on your skin.

Eat and live healthy

A healthy lifestyle and diet can delay aging of the skin. Eat fruits and vegetables rich in Vitamin C to help you detoxify. Drink lots of water - a minimum of 10 glasses of water is sufficient for the whole day. But if you can exceed that, it is more beneficial.

Manage stress

Stress is one main reason why acne along with other skin problems occur. To encourage healthy skin, it's also advisable to have a healthy state of mind. Relax, even if you are in the midst of pressure. We know that there is pressure every day, but you must be able to manage your stress every time. And smile, that is the best way to manage stress.
