Are you too fat to get a good job?

When it comes to impressing employers, a recent study proves that big isn't always beautiful and thin isn't always in.

We are part of a image conscious world where how you look can be more important than what you can do. We spend more than ever on personal grooming and power dressing to make the right impression at our jobs and enhance our careers. But what if you're not the perfect size six? The reality is that we're larger than ever. If image is so important, then could your weight affect your career development?

Studies show that size discrimination is common at work. A recent questionnaire in a professional HR human resources magazine revealed that ninety-three per cent of Personnel professionals would give the vacancy to the smaller-sized person when choosing between two otherwise similar applicants and the evidence shows that dress size discrimination counts more against females.

Emily Smith is now a size six realtor but when working in an office some time ago and weighing 280 pounds, she found herself overlooked for promotion oppportunities. She found that being appointed to a job was inevitably a nightmare. Her resume would be well put together and professional, she would turn up for the interview very well prepared and would finish up squirming with embarassment by the employer's immediate look of disappointment at her size.

Plus size people often acquire a larger than life personality to compensate, and she was like that - always the office laugh but hurting inside. There were the practical jokes, and comments like at least SHE won't have an office romance unless its with the vending machine. She did all that she was able to counteract the assumption that fat people are lazy and do not take care with their appearance. She would get up two hours early to style her hair but this didn't make any difference because all her colleagues saw was this very big girl.

It's true to say thatthere are some women who don't fit into these rules, everybody is stereotyped in one way or another. If you are plus size there is the negative stereotype of slothful loser, but there can be a positive stereotype, that you are a life-loving, big-hearted individual - all useful qualities in some professions.

However, if you don't want to encounter negative perceptions due to your dress size you will have to face the battle of losing weight. There are many programs, but one of the most successful I have found is Dr Siegal's Cookie diet, which has worked for five hundred thousand people worldwide.

Eat cookies, lose weight! Chocolate, Blueberry, Oatmeal Raisin, Banana & Coconut www.CookieDietOnline.com Starting a weight loss plan doesn't mean you can't consume delicious foods, in fact if you only eat boring food, you're more likely to give up.

Imagine, like our example above - when yourkids come out of school, they won't feel embarassed by the blob waiting for them outside the gate, but will feel proud of their slim and attractive Mom!
