For Women Only (Part 2)
More finance tips for women:
Choose a financially responsible partner. I suppose this applies to the opposite sex as well but at the risk of stereotyping, I would say that women are generally better at managing money than men. As such, do not jeopardise your own finances by partnering up with someone who has absolutely no financial sense or at least, someone who is not willing to learn. Then again, this is easier said than done for when it comes to relationships, other factors normally take on more weight than one’s financial savvy. Just think about it this way: would you want to be deeply in love and deeply in debt?
Make lists. Again, applicable to many things in life but maybe more so for women. When you go to the mall or the grocery store, it would be better to write down what you need beforehand. This will help you curb your impulses for buying everything in sight. Even if you had the money and you could afford whatever you want, it is wiser to list down what you need and save some money for whatever reason. I am being stereotypical again, perhaps, but women do tend to splurge and indulge when shopping. So it is better to have a plan and stick to it.
Communicate with your partner… …about money matters. Do not keep your finances a secret from each other. Whether or not you have children does not matter. You need to be able to talk about money and your plans regarding your financial future.
