Grand Canyon Helicopters - Best Rides to Bottom of National Park
Summer is finally here and it's time to hit the road for a fun vacation. Have you been looking for an adventure that would make your vacation unique? If you want this year to be the year you take the ultimate vacation, then you need to head to the Grand Canyon and take a helicopter ride.
Vegas Baby!
It's true that Vegas never sleeps, but that doesn't mean you can take a helicopter tour at night, but you don't need to anyway since you can take one any day you want except for Christmas Day.
When you take a helicopter tour out of Vegas, your chopper will fly over the massive Hoover Dam and Lake Mead. Plus, the best part is the aerial view you get of the canyon and all the beautiful and ancient rock formations. What happens when it's time to land, is entirely up to you.
Vegas' most popular flight is the one that flies below the rim and lands on the bottom. What makes it super special is that travelers can enjoy a Champagne picnic. The truly adventurous tend to extend this adventure by adding a VIP Skywalk ticket and a Colorado River boat ride into the mix.
While the canyon floor is filled with adventure, there is excitement on top of the rim too, because that's where the Skywalk is located. This glass and steel platform is suspended thousands of feet above the Canyon bottom, and the experience you get from standing on the platform is exciting, mesmerizing, and unlike anything else you will ever do.
South Rim Tours
Although Vegas tours are the only ones that can actually land inside and at the rim of the Grand Canyon, you still have options if you want to fly from Tusayan in Arizona. The tours of the South Rim fly over to the North Rim and back. The standard version gives you thirty minutes of flight time.
There is a longer, fifty minute tour available too. It covers everything the standard tour does, but also includes flying time to the eastern boundary of the park. It's a very comprehensive tour that shows you 75 percent of the entire park.
If you want, you can add a jeep tour onto your helicopter tour of the South Rim.. These are a great way to see some landmarks from the ground, and they do help to make up for the fact that you can't land inside of the canyon itself.
Book Online And Choose Your Chopper
When you're ready to book, do it online, and do it early. It's best to allow at least a couple of weeks lead time. This will ensure that seats are available, and you won't have to go juggling your schedule. The best deals are found online.
Next, decide if you want to take a deluxe tour or stick with the basic version. The basic tours utilize older style choppers, and while they're fine, but they aren't as comfortable as newer models. Go deluxe and you will fly in an EcoStar 130 heli that has been configured exclusively for sightseeing.
Choose Your Adventure
When you take a heli ride, you're doing more than simply booking an air tour. You're setting off on a journey to see one of the most visually striking places on earth. But make sure you don't wait until the last minute to reserve it. Flighs are in high demand so book early and over the Internet in order to get the best tour at the lowest rate.
