Take your family for a short hotel break.

by Chloe Anderson

Spending quality time with your whole family is very difficult these days – the children are busy with school or hanging out with their friends; both you and your spouse are caught up with work and household chores and things are a hundred times more complicated if you have a new baby. The only time that your children are free is during their summer holiday - which is the peak season; finding an affordable quiet holiday is virtually impossible during this time. With your conflicting time schedules, the chances of a good long vacation are bleak – leaving you with few options to spend quality time with your family.

Taking a short hotel break with your family is just what you need to relax and bond with your partner and kids, without the complications and intensive planning that a long vacation requires. If you have babies and young children, planning a holiday abroad will be very difficult, and bothersome. Your best option is a short break within the UK itself. This way, you can drive yourself to the holiday destination, spending time with family on the way. Short hotel breaks are becoming popular and can be taken during the off peak season, meaning cheaper rates and less visitors – quite appealing isn’t it?

There are plenty of charming bed and breakfast hotels and cottages situated throughout UK that are suitable for short breaks for the entire family. Most hotels cater to infants and have baby-friendly facilities such as cots and high chairs. Make sure you inform the hotel if and how many infants and children will be included in your party. Be sure to select a hotel that has a swimming pool and other activities such as tennis, snooker or a gym so that your kids will have something to do. If you feel like relaxing with a massage or a few rounds of golf, then you should select a hotel that has a spa or is situated close to a golf course. The hotels usually offer exceptional service with their trained staff and excellent meals, so you will not have to worry about these aspects of your holiday.

Selecting a hotel that is situated in a beautiful picturesque town or city will give you and your children ample things to do during your short hotel break, such as shopping and exploring. You can find information from tourist leaflets or guidance from the hotel staff to find out interesting places you can visit nearby and help you get the most out of your stay.
