The Joy of Making a Dream Come True

I’ve talked a lot over the years of making your dreams, your heart’s passions, come true in your life in one form or another. You might not make it on Broadway, but you can always act in your local theatre. I’m not a famous singer with thousands of adoring fans, but I did sing the National Anthem in front of 2500 people at our local AA Baseball game.

Sometimes touching a dream is all we can do, and the very act of reaching for it stretches us and helps us grow. Every time we reach for a dream we get a little farther along our path.

Sometimes we know the outcome before it happens. I was pretty sure when I tried out for the Anthem that I would get called. Sometimes we don’t know. We have a great idea and we know it is worth pursuing. We put our hearts and souls into it because it is the right thing to do, whatever the outcome may be. We leap and trust that the net will appear before we hit the ground.

There has been much controversy over the last year or so about the movie and book “The Secret” and The Law of Attraction. Some believe that if you hold an idea firmly enough in your mind it will manifest in real life. Others claim that is a dangerous notion, because you have to work before anything can happen. Just believing isn’t enough.

I agree. With both, actually. If you want something badly enough, you will take steps toward it. If you want it but can’t see it, can’t visualize it, you will have a much harder time manifesting it because you are not clear on what you want. If you don’t believe you can do it or that you deserve it, you will fight yourself every time you get close.

When you can see it and believe in it, you will want to act on it. It is those three things working together- Vision, Belief, and Action that will bring you the things you want. Affirmations, self hypnosis, prayer, scrap books and collages of our desires, all of these help us focus our attention on our dreams, and it is that focused attention that will take us closer to them.

Two years ago this Fall we quit our jobs driving truck and began following our own dreams. Mine was to join Jim Rohn, Brian Tracy, Zig Ziglar, Robert Allen, Marshall Sylver, and the other mentors and coaches of the world in helping people reach their dreams. I wanted to be on stage, making a difference in many people’s lives. I love to travel, to speak, to share, to teach. I also saw a serious lack of women up there on stage, and thought I could give a slightly different perspective to the world.

So I took classes, went to seminars, joined Toastmasters. I went through Coaching training. I took Alex Mandossian’s Teleseminar Secrets. I joined Robert Allen’s Enlightened Wealth Institute. I learned, I studied, I defined my dreams more clearly. I watched the gurus closely- what I liked, what I admired, what I didn’t. Which traits I wanted for my own, which ones I did not.

I loved the idea of Harris and Merlin’s 12 Week Intensive. You find 12 experts in a field you are interested in. (Actually, you find and contact about 60 and get 12 of them to say yes.) Then you interview them, one each week, on a teleseminar that you broadcast for free. Each one gets to give an hour or so of great information, and promote a product or program of theirs that will teach people even more. You are an affiliate of the sales from the call. Harris and Merlin made about $130,000 from the first 12 Week Intensive they did, and became well known in the process.

That became one of my dreams. Find experts I admire, ask them for interviews, get to know them, interview them, and help them help others.

This month I have started realizing that dream. The first of July I became part of Mark Joyner’s 7 Day Business Turnaround. I have provided a Simpleology link below. The information is great, the training even better, and I got to meet some of the Space Monkeys.

What in the world is a Space Monkey? Well, before we sent humans out to face the void of outer space, we sent up a dog, and then a chimp, to see how rocket travel would affect living creatures. So when Mark created his 7 Day Business Turnaround, he decided to run a select group of people through the program first, just to see what would happen, and he called them his Space Monkeys.

Some of them were already successful business owners and/or internet marketing gurus, like Tellman Knutson. Some were a small presence on the net, like Kristi Sayles, a 2nd grade teacher who made an extra $400-$500 per month in internet marketing. There were brick and mortar businesses, and total newbies. There was even Mike Hudson, a very successful man who wrote much of the copy you see in the guru’s campaigns, who had never created his own product in all these years.

It was an experiment in marketing, in creativity, and in bringing together people from entirely different backgrounds and seeing what they could do in 7 days with intensive training and access to each other. And what they could do was amazing.

I joined the & Day Business Turnaround on it’s launch to the public. I am very impressed with it, and recommend it wholeheartedly. He teaches about cutting costs, stopping the time bleeding, how to do quick “Cash Injection” missions, and how to think long term once you have the present under control. The forums are one of the best parts, because you never know who you might run into.

I ran into the Space Monkeys, and I remembered my dream of interviewing experts. Here they were, 16 Space Monkeys, and I have a way to contact them (or at least some of them.) I have something in common with them, and several are still active on the forum. So…

I invented the Wealth Virus. The WHAT? The Wealth Virus. It is something the Space Monkeys caught when Mark used them for guinea pigs, and it has been spreading ever since. Every project they work on, all the people they come into contact with, seem to catch the Wealth Virus. Really.

Why did I invent the Wealth Virus? Because it gave me a chance to debrief the Space Monkeys. It gave me a story line to play with, a reason to do the interviews, and a fun thing to talk about, not to mention a great URL. Check it out at the end of this article.

So I set up the website and started contacting Space Monkeys. I only had 16. Could I get enough to make a decent teleseminar series? Well, so far I have 7 Space Monkeys and Mark Joyner himself who have said “Yes” to being interviewed. And a dream seed planed almost 2 years ago is growing into the most beautiful reality I can imagine.

Sometimes in the last month I have felt a little overwhelmed with all I am doing, yet overall I am happier than I have been in a long while. Following your dreams and finally catching up to them is a mind blowing, life altering experience, and I recommend it to everyone. :)

I have often said “Follow your dream.” Now I realize that you don’t just follow a dream. You dream it, you lead it, you follow it, you coax it, you sometimes yell at it for not being what you thought it should be. You let it sleep for a while, then you wake it up and try again. You allow it to grow, you shape it, you trim it, you expand and contract it. You live with it, and it lives in you. Most of all, you work for it, and you never, ever give up on it. And it never gives up on you.
