Canadian skills migration is on hold for all streams except a couple of them. That includes a new initiative has been launched in January 2013, arranged employment requests and the old student scheme. From the older version Federal Skilled Worker (FSW) Applications Under The PhD Stream are being accepted.

This stream has been tagged with an annual numbers cap and only 1000 request for this segment of skills migration are accepted per year. i.e. after its initiation in 2011 the annual sealing of 1000 applications was achieved on October 31, 2012. The current program which started on November 01, 2012 is will go on till October 31, 2013 until and unless changes are effected in this stream too. As per the last updates dated January 29, 2013 657 requests have been received under the doctoral segment. The requests for this segment are evaluated on first come first serve basis.

The qualification parameters spans over different attributes of a migrant’s profile. The elementary stipulation of all aspirants is substantiation of the appropriate and compatible linguistic skills in one of the official languages of the country i.e. English or French which must be at par with the prescribed Canadian linguistic standards. This evidencing process must be completed before the placement of the residential permit Application Under Federal Skilled Worker PhD Stream of Canada. The results accomplished must accompany the request for the residence permit. For the purpose of the evidencing the tests which have been officially listed as approved evaluation of applicant’s linguistic compatibility include

• Are in process of the doctoral studies and have accomplished 2 years of pursuals towards doctorate

• Are in possession of good scholastic accomplishments while placing the request for residential permit under <b>Federal Skilled Worker</b> PhD Stream scheme

• Are not destined to be conferred with an award back home that requires them to travel back to their country of origin

• Graduation candidates of doctorate pursual from an primary or post secondary academic establishment that is approved by state or regional authority of Canada who

• Have accomplished graduation in last 1 year period that immediately precedes the placement of request for residential permit under Canadian FSW PhD Stream

• Have not been conferred with an award in their country of origin which needed them to undertake journey back home to accept such an endowment (or have received, but have fulfilled condition of such award)

Federal Skilled Worker (FSW) Applications Under The PhD Stream are being accepted till October 31, 2013. There is annual sealing of 1000 requests under this program and till January 29, 2013 and 657 requests had been placed for permanent residential permit under this scheme. The applicants need to substantiate their linguistic skills in one of the official languages of the country besides fulfilling other essential criteria of the scheme.
