Eloping Made Easy, Key West Style

by Jack Terry

As romantic and spontaneous as it sounds, eloping is something that still requires a bit of planning. There is the license to arrange, the blood test that many states require, and lining up someone who is actually qualified to do the ceremony. Certainly Las Vegas is famous for having streamlined the practice - where else can you get married at a drive thru? - but for people who are looking for something a tad more romantic, Key West Florida, the number one choice for tropical island weddings, is the perfect solution.

Florida is one of the few states that do not require a waiting period or a blood test. Obtaining a marriage license is as easy as going to any county office, even within three days of when you want to get married, and simply filling out the paperwork and paying the fee. If you decide to invite a few people down after all, the license is good for up to 60 days, and anyone who is a licensed minister or a Justice of the Peace can perform the ceremony. Since it is so easy to arrange, why not turn the elopement into something special?

Destination weddings are hard to arrange because the lucky couple may not be able to spend an extended amount of time where it will be happening or are too unfamiliar with all of their options. This is where having a knowledgeable wedding planner can make all the difference. Key West is host to so many weddings a year, in fact, that many of the Key West restaurants and venues where people hold their ceremonies and receptions will only work with local wedding planners. This way, people can be sure that events do not get double booked, and if there are any questions or concerns that come up during the process, there is somebody right there who can make a decision and keep things moving smoothly.

The good thing about having a local wedding planner is that if you still want to have the wedding be a small time under the radar affair, they are experts at pulling that off as well. With only a few days' notice, they can put together an event that is far more special than standing in the county courthouse. They know the locations that are available and can be sure to find that special beach or private garden for the proper romantic touch.

Destination weddings do not have to be extravagant, stressful over the top affairs. Instead of being designed for two hundred people, they can be built just for two. If the two of you have always thought about running away to say "I do", this summer is the time to do it and Key West, Florida is the place to go.
